First Meeting!
Hello members and prospective members of the Women of Dene!
We will be having our first meeting this Wednesday at 8pm in Stadium House. There will be snacks and lots of ridiculousness because we are awesome, and hopefully you'll get to meet our wonderful advisor, Nancy Anderson. We'll talk about the program, and about living in a house, and of course a little about ourselves.
To get to Stadium: Walk down the hill on Beall, away from Lowry and towards Drugmart. Turn LEFT onto University Street, and walk past Scheide, Hider, and Aultz houses. Cross Spink. Keep walking past the Greek housing until you see a lovely two-level house with a balcony. That's us, with the red doors! We are the door on the right. There will be a sign and the door will be open.
Hope to see you there!

Ushering in the New Year
Hello Woosterites!
Welcome back to another year at the College. The Women of Dené are currently in the process of moving in, setting up the house, and decorating the walls. We'll be hosting our first meeting pretty soon (details to follow), and of course you can always swing by Stadium House, located on University Street across from - what else - the Stadium. We're the ones with the balcony.
We will be at Scot Spirit Day - come by the table for more information and to meet some of our members.
Hope to see you soon!

Dude, what kind of a name is Dené?
Dené comes from a Native American culture and translates into those who see. The Dené program brings together women of all backgrounds, ethnicity, cultures, and races to challenge prejudices and intolerance and promote inter-racial relations on campus. The women who participate in this program accomplish their mission through educational programming that focuses on issues of diversity and multiculturalism.
So... what kind of stuff do you do?
Everything! We celebrate Black History Month every year, throw a Masquerade Ball, host regular cultural movie nights (with pizza, popcorn, and soda!), help out with on-campus events such as "Love Your Body", and go on all sorts of field trips, from the art museum to the zoo, all aimed towards increasing awareness of other cultures. We also host "Women Talk", now in its third year, where students, faculty, and staff come together to talk about the issues facing women today. We're not above throwing a party or two with our brother program, Dream.
Who's in charge?
Our adviser is Nancy Anderson, and the group is co-led by Grace H. and Antuania M., our two senior members. Grace writes the blog as well (hi!). However, the group is very focused on allowing everyone to take some form of leadership position.
How do I find you?
Some members of Dené will be living in Stadium House next year, which is where our headquarters will be as well. Located on East University Street, we have a porch and a large meeting space - come by and see us sometime, we love company! If you want more information, please feel free to email Grace at ghansen10@wooster.edu.
Can you prove you actually exist?

Sure! How about a photo of our last outing of the 2008-2009 year, to the zoo with Dream? Pictured left-right are Sateesh V., Grace H., Elena D., and Anne R.
Where can I find more information?
Check out our website. It's currently under construction, but the basics are there.
